NATURAL WOOD DECKING

Exceptional timber shaped by nature for life outdoors
Natural timber remains one of the most rewarding materials for terraces and exterior spaces. Unlike surfaces that merely reproduce the appearance of wood, it retains the grain, tonal variation and tactile warmth of the original material. Each board is different, and the surface acquires character naturally as it responds to light, use and the changing seasons.
Species such as Ipé, also known as Brazilian Ironwood, and Garapa are particularly suited to outdoor applications because their exceptional density and natural oils provide strong resistance to moisture, insects, decay and demanding climatic conditions. Correctly specified and installed, these timbers maintain their structural integrity for decades. They do not deteriorate or rot in the same way as conventional, less durable woods and require no artificial coating to provide their fundamental protection.
Their natural behaviour also makes them particularly comfortable underfoot. Timber absorbs and releases heat differently from stone, ceramic or many synthetic surfaces, so it does not become excessively hot in direct sunlight. This is an important advantage around swimming pools, on terraces and in other areas intended to be enjoyed barefoot.
The wood used in our projects is selected from responsibly managed, certified forests, where controlled harvesting supports regeneration and protects the long-term value of the ecosystem. Certification and traceability are essential parts of the specification, ensuring that the beauty and durability of these valuable species are not separated from responsible sourcing.
Over time, exposure to sunlight gradually changes the surface towards an elegant silver-grey patina without compromising the strength of the wood. Its original colour can also be maintained through periodic cleaning and oiling. The choice is therefore aesthetic rather than structural: the terrace can retain its warmer natural tones or be allowed to mature gracefully outdoors.
Installation can be developed with concealed fixings for a continuous, refined surface or with visible stainless-steel fixings where direct mechanical fastening is preferred. Substructure, ventilation, drainage, expansion gaps and perimeter detailing are considered as part of the complete assembly, not as secondary decisions made on site.
We provide both material selection and professional installation, adapting the system to the exposure, traffic and architectural conditions of each project. The result is an exterior floor that combines remarkable durability with a quality synthetic alternatives cannot fully reproduce: the warmth, depth and individuality of genuine wood.
